 thrive-2017-motto-wp“THRIVE 2017” (continued)

Christians are not meant to live in crisis.  We are meant to THRIVE!  There is a catch, however… obedience to His word!

Psalm 1:1-3 “How blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the path of sinners, nor sit in the seat of scoffers!  But his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night.  He will be alike a tree firmly planted by steams of water, which yields its fruit in its season and its leaf does not wither; and it whatever he does, he prospers.”

Joshua 1:7  “Be strong and very courageous. Be careful to obey all the instructions Moses gave you. Do not deviate from them, turning either to the right or to the left. Then you will be successful in everything you do.”

Deuteronomy 29:9  “Therefore, obey the terms of this covenant so that you will prosper in everything you do.”

Proverbs 28:25 “An arrogant man stirs up strife, But he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.”

Proverbs 19:8 “The one who gets wisdom loves life; the one who cherishes understanding will soon prosper.”

Deuteronomy 28:1-14 “If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. The fruit of your womb will be blessed, and the crops of your land and the young of your livestock—the calves of your herds and the lambs of your flocks. Your basket and your kneading trough will be blessed. You will be blessed when you come in and blessed when you go out. The Lord will grant that the enemies who rise up against you will be defeated before you. They will come at you from one direction but flee from you in seven. The Lord will send a blessing on your barns and on everything you put your hand to. The Lord your God will bless you in the land he is giving you.  The Lord will establish you as his holy people, as he promised you on oath, if you keep the commands of the Lord your God and walk in obedience to him. Then all the peoples on earth will see that you are called by the name of the Lord, and they will fear you. The Lord will grant you abundant prosperity—in the fruit of your womb, the young of your livestock and the crops of your ground—in the land he swore to your ancestors to give you. The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. The Lord will make you the head, not the tail. If you pay attention to the commands of the Lord your God that I give you this day and carefully follow them, you will always be at the top, never at the bottom. Do not turn aside from any of the commands I give you today, to the right or to the left, following other gods and serving them.”

These are just a few of the verses found in the bible that teach us the key to successful living.  Call us today to find out how you can begin living a life of obedience and move from crisis to thriving!

Kkeepdigging_websiteeep Digging in 2016″ (continued)

As believers, we should not be looking to the world for our provision, instead we should be looking to God.  But if we are honest, we would admit that many of us struggle to believe this profound truth especially during times of difficulty.

When Isaac, Abraham’s son of promise, was experiencing a time of severe famine and want, he started out on a journey toward Egypt to find solutions to the problems he was facing.  He was heading toward the same place his father had gone years earlier during his own time of crisis.  But God had other plans.  God told him to stay in the land and rely on HIM for all that he needed.  He wanted to teach him valuable lessons about where he should place his trust.

Isaac knew he needed revenue to meet his needs.  In obedience to God, he began digging wells to water his crops and nourish his flocks.  In that same year, God blessed him and he became very wealthy.  That is when others became envious and began to oppose him.  But Isaac never gave up.  He just kept digging and soon he was blessed with “more than enough”.

This story gives us such hope!  As children of God, we can put our faith and trust in the same God that provided for Isaac.  As we “dig” and go deeper in our relationship with God, new wells of opportunity will spring forth in our lives.  We will no longer have to rely on anything or anyone other than the creator of the universe to provide for our every need.  God’s promise to you is that in the midst of your financial need you can come to Him and draw whatever you need from His unlimited resources.  He also promises that in times of famine you will be satisfied.

If you do not have that assurance in your heart, please contact us so that we can help you begin your own journey toward sufficiency.  It will take some effort, so get your shovels ready.  We will be right there with you in the trenches to assist you every step of the way.

Before we can put the Living Word into the hands of others we must first wash ours.   By doing so, we are better able to use what is in our hands to communicate with those who are spiritually deaf and blind.  Like Helen Keller’s teacher, Ann Sullivan, we use our hands to reach those in silence and darkness with a language that awakens those searching for understanding and hope.  If we communicate in a language they understand, the message is clearer and more personal.

At Valor Ministries, our mission is to touch hearts and changes lives with the Good News of Jesus Christ.  Jesus took time to communicate with others.  Will you?  God’s Love… Our Hands… Touching Hearts!

Leave it 2014 Shoes FINAL (3)“Leave it in 2014” (continued)

So many Christians take things to the Lord and leave them at the foot of the cross, only to pick them back up again a few minutes later.  Whether it is past mistakes or current circumstances, we hold on to heavy burdens that we were never meant to carry.  By doing so, we waste our precious energy, slow down our momentum, and sabotage our future.

Jesus came to teach us a new way of living.  By carrying our own burdens we stay stuck in bondage.  We grow tired and weary.  It causes many of us to see ourselves as victims instead of victors.  We start focusing on our distractions instead of our destinies.  When we choose to leave our burdens with Jesus, we begin to live life more freely.

Imagine what your life could be like when the energy you are using now to carry your burdens becomes available to carry you towards the things you really want in life.  What will you do?  Where will you go?  What will you achieve?  That is up to you.  What you focus on is your choice and your responsibility, regardless of what happened to you in the past, what is happening right now, and what will happen in your future.

In 2014, our goal at Valor Ministries was to encourage everyone to quickly “cast” away anything that attempted to hold them down.  God has something for each one of us to do and He has blessings waiting for those who obey.  No matter what comes our way, He will sustain us and He will not let us be shaken.  We can either leave it behind or be left behind.  We say, “Leave it at the cross!”

Yes it is true!  Music in the City Park continues despite the rumors otherwise.  Valor Ministries accepted the reigns from By Faith Ministries in 2014 to support the almost 20 year tradition of Christian music on Wednesday evenings at the City Park.  Mike and Jenny Wilt scheduled bands and Christian artists for seven years.  Recent changes to Hagerstown City’s rates and carrying for family was the door closing for them.  The timing and our vision was not a coincidence.  We are excited to be a part of Christian music in the city.  We will be booking bands for the 2017 summer schedule starting in December 2016.  Bands are asked to contact Steven Wriston at steven.wriston@thevalorcenter.org for more information on the booking process.  Also, we would welcome sponsors to financially support these events.  Visit www.encountercitypark.org for more details.

Hope and a Future (continued)

Jeremiah 29:11 (The Message) “I know what I’m doing. I have it all planned out—plans to take care of you, not abandon you, plans to give you the future you hope for.”  This scripture passage is an account of a very troubling time in Israel’s history.  After many years of disobedience, God allowed His chosen people to be taken captive and re-settled in a foreign land called Babylon.  God then directed the prophet, Jeremiah, to relay a letter to those disheartened exiles to give them hope and encouragement.

Although things seemed grim and it appeared that all had been lost, God was telling them that even though they were going to be in exile for a long time and they would be tempted to give up, they could still trust Him.  He wanted them to know that He had plans to prosper them and to give them hope and a future.  He then gave them practical instructions as to what to do while they waited.

So many of us believe that happiness or fulfillment is primarily a function of our circumstances, and therefore the best thing to do when our circumstances are difficult is to run from them into what looks like better circumstances. That’s a hard truth to accept when you’re in the middle of a tough time isn’t it?  But it’s so true.  If there is one thing I’ve learned it’s this:  God plants us where He wants to plant us for a reason and a season.  And there’s no getting around it.  Our job is to “grow” wherever that may be.

Friends, if we can grasp this “grow where you are planted” concept, I am convinced that we will be more content in any situation we may face.  We’ll be able to find fulfillment no matter what our circumstances and trust God that He is in control—leading and guiding us each day of our lives—towards a hope-filled future.

Find Your PurposeFind Your Purpose (continued)

So many of us struggle to answer the questions, “why am I here?” and “what was I created for?”  Unfortunately, many of us don’t fully understand who God is, and as a result, we don’t know who we are either.  At Valor Ministries, we’re dedicated to helping people solve the mystery of what their purpose truly is.  We can’t provide these kind of answers in a few short sentences, so to get things started, we’d like to talk with you and then begin providing some of the tools you’ll need to discover your fullest potential in Christ.  If you’d like to find out more, please contact us at info@thevalorcenter.org or call us at 240-329-9387.  We’d love to hear from you!

Soar with the EaglesIt’s time to Soar with the Eagles (continued)

We have been instructed by God himself not to live in fear, but to step forward and live our lives using the gifts and the talents he has equipped us with to achieve our dreams.  But that won’t happen unless we make the choice to take risks.  We can either scratch in the dirt with the turkeys or we can rise up with Christ and fly with the eagles to the heights that He has planned and envisioned for each of us to reach.

So why not go for your dreams and let God worry about the rest?  You see, living the abundant life is ultimately about discovering what God’s purpose is for your life and then giving it everything you’ve got to achieve that purpose.  If you try and do your best, even if you fail, you are already a success.  If our dreams and desires are in harmony with God’s purpose for us, then He will equip and empower us to achieve them.

Believe 2010Believe and Shine! (continued)

“Believe and Shine!” is more than a statement; it’s a way of life.  It’s knowing, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that with God, “all things are possible.”  Not only that, but it’s about believing in that promise so much, that you’re willing to share it with those who need to hear it the most.  The bible tells us that we need to be a “light” which leads others to the realization that God is able to do more than we can ask or imagine.   One of my favorite songs we sing during worship, is Upfront’s version of “This Little Light of Mine”.  It’s different than what most people are used to singing.  Here are some of the lyrics:

“The light that shines is the light of love, lights in the darkness from above.

It shines on me and it shines on you, shows what the power of love can do.

I’m gonna shine my light both far and near, I’m gonna shine my light both bright and clear.

Where there’s a dark corner in this land… I’m gonna let my little light shine.”

Is your light shining for the world to see?  If not, then I suggest immersing yourself in the Word of God and asking Him to empower you to “let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven.”

We’re just like you. We’ve been there and back along life’s journey. We know what it is like to be on top of it all and also to feel like all of it is on top of us. We’re normal every day people doing our very best to do what Jesus said, “to love each other.” We admit that we don’t know it all. This we promise, whatever we do know we will share with everyone who asks. Together we can help each other worship God in ways only He can imagine.  Visit www.upfrontworship.com for more info.
