Valor's Client Navigator, Sheliea Athey, is one of our blog's newest authors.
In her role as Client Navigator, Mrs. Athey is the first impression of the organization and supplies information regarding the Valor Crisis and Training Center to the general public, clients, and partners. She also schedules appointments and provides compassion, empathy, and patience for clients who may be in moments of trauma and/or crisis while actively listening to their needs and pointing them in the proper direction for assistance.

As one of our newest content creators, Sheliea is able to draw upon her her extensive experience in both community outreach and administration. She previously served at Lifehouse Church as an administrative assistant and outreach and events coordinator, as well as other leadership positions that focused on project management and providing aid to those in need.
Her Passion for Others Shows Through Her Writing
Several large scale efforts that Sheliea has led include guest services coordination for Convoy of Hope in Washington County, Project Big Love in Franklin County, PA, and the “Feed Your Soul” food distribution project in Berkeley County, WV. In addition, Sheliea was also the volunteer coordinator for La Mano of Hope, overseeing their quarterly mobile food pantry. She also assisted with their social media platforms, promoting the organization, and coordination of international mission trips.
Sheliea holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology and a Masters in Human Services with a specialization in marriage and family therapy from Liberty University. Born in Alabama and now residing in Martinsburg WV, she has been married to her high-school sweetheart for 32 years and they have one son. In her spare time, she loves writing and has written many devotionals about how faith in God helps us work through and overcome life's trials and struggles.
